Dear Mr. & Mrs. Byce
I am writing this letter
to compliment you on your exceptional operation. It was only
about a month ago that I set out to purchase a piano as a
surprise Christmas gift for my wife, Denise. For the most part,
she has not played since high school. She has spent most of the
past twenty-five years pursuing her career. The thought of
buying her an instrument to redevelop her talent intrigued me. I
have a musical background; however I am not a pianist.
I have been to a couple of
piano stores before stopping in your shop. I have a vague idea
of what I wanted, but I really needed some guidance and
education. Dan Bayus was manning the store when I arrived late
in the after noon on a snowy Monday. He was immediately
subjected to my quest and took great interest in helping me with
my decision. When I say great interest, I mean Dan went over and
above what I expected with his through explanations and
demonstrations of your and others’ instruments. His knowledge of
their original, manufacture, and the market put me at ease that
I had arrived at the right dealer. We crawled underneath grand
pianos for construction inspections and disassembled fallboards
and keyslips to remove to remove and compare entire actions. We
even played a couple. After two hours in the store I decided to
give Dan a break and promised to return the next day. I was
pretty sure I had the one I wanted picked out, but wanted to
read the literature he gave me and sleep on it.
When I returned Tuesday
night with even more questions, Dan knew what to expect and
stayed true to form, never losing patience. He did however
enlist the assistance of his counterpart Dave Brown for some
inspiring piano playing. Even though I was Dan’s customer, Dave
was glad to play one after another at my request. He offered his
opinion of the pianos I was considering. In my experience, that
is rare between sales people. You guys have a winning team.
After plinking out a few notes myself, and listening some more,
I decided to pull the trigger.
Dan arranged delivery for
when Denise would be out of the house, and my Christmas surprise
became a reality. The piano was delivered by your very
accommodating people who even called ahead to let me know they
were running early! With my families help, I rearranged the
furniture around the beautiful “living room Grand” and sealing
the doorways and windows with wrapping paper. After what seemed
like an external Christmas dinner, I led Denise into the room
with my hands over her eyes. While our family looked on, I
whispered “Merry Christmas” I love you” into her ears, and
lifted my fingers.
The rest is present-day
history. She has time to practice and play for hours a day and
tells me every day how much she loves her new piano. Dan has
checked in to see that all went well. It is with great gratitude
that I thank you and your staff for helping make it all
possible. See you on tuning day.
